Pre-Rut hunting can include bucks gathering together in what we call bachelor parties. Stand hunting is best in the morning and the evening. Rattling is effective in the afternoons. The bucks begin visiting scrapes and rubs. Shots  may be easier because the deer are in less of a hurry.  

Full-Rut hunting can include buck activity all day long. the bucks tend to be concentrated and grouped with one doe sometimes chasing her for miles. When you see one monster buck you'll probably see several more. Sometimes shots are impossible because the deer are moving by so fast.

Hunters must also apply for a deer permit and purchase hunting license from the 

Kansas Wildlife and Park

Land-owner permits may be available for additional surcharge

All hunters arrive on  Monday and hunt Monday evening through Saturday morning.  Hunters depart Saturday afternoon.
